The actor has revealed in a couple of interviews about how he was bullied in school back in the day because he was an actor. He therefore decided to learn karate and right from the age of six and obtained his black belt when he was eight.

However, his trainer, Michael Chaturantabut urged him on to try his hands on acting instead which he obliged. He attended a number of auditions in Los Angeles and then make the trip back to Michigan.

The stress became too much for the young Lautner hence his parents deliberately decided to go and live in California for like a month so he can easily attend the auditions before they finally moved to Santa Clarita, California in 2002.

His role as Jacob Black earned him a nomination at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards for the Male Breakthrough Performance but unfortunately lost out to Robert Pattinson.
